Our Social Action Team is sponsoring a service opportunity here at Unity Santa Fe, called Care and Share, as a way of blessing others in our local Santa Fe community.
By talking with local social service organizations, we've learned what some of the greatest needs are in our community.
Each month, we are highlighting one specific need and offering the opportunity for you to donate items to fill that need.
During the month of May, our Care & Share drive will be collecting these kinds of things to help people entertain themselves:
ITEMS ACCEPTED THIS MONTH:
• Art supplies
• Games & puzzles (please, none with missing pieces)
• Books
• Magazines
Casa Cerrillos is a low-income housing complex for formerly homeless people with disabilities.
Casa Cerrillos’ Permanent Supportive Housing program offers traditional apartment living in a 28-unit efficiency apartment complex to homeless adults with physical or mental disabilities. Oftentimes, the individuals residing at Casa Cerrillos haveco-occurring substance abuse issues.
Residents pay below-market rent based on income and can stay from a few months to several years depending on their needs. On-site counselors and program managers offer a full range of supportive services from life-skills training to obtaining benefits. The skills gained by Casa Cerrillos residents are indispensable, and aid in the process of residents becoming independent and self-sufficient.
