August's Prayer Column: Prayer as Self Care ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿฝ

Unity Santa Fe Prayer Column for Augustย Man Relaxing2024

How do we take care of our own spiritual, physical, and mental selves? Is taking a break and going for a walk self-care, and can it be prayer? Is seeing a movie that sparks your imagination for creativity or lifts your spirit, self-care and a form of prayer?ย

I have been exploring prayer in many different avenues this past year but the most interesting has been looking at the idea of praying without ceasing. Maybe we each are a living, walking prayer in action. Doesnโ€™t one of our prayer songs at Unity say, โ€œOur thoughts are prayers, and we are always praying.โ€ Taking that a bit further, we are always able to make a choice, a choice for being reverent with our thoughts, words, and deeds; or being irreverent to ourselves with critical and judgmental thoughts.

With a return to reverence for the Divine within, we wake up to a feeling,
Knowing, and a way of being that is more peaceful, kind, and compassionate for the number 1 person in our life โ€“ Ourselves. We find healing and calmness in our life when our self-care includes Praying Without Ceasing.
