James Barrett

Congregational Representative

I was born at Scott Air Force Base in Illinois and moved many times as a child.  I graduated from Lamar Institute of Technology with a degree in English literature.  I then moved to Columbus, Ohio, and graduated from Ohio State University with a degree in Educational Psychology.  I have also lived in several countries including New Foundland and Japan. My father was an officer in the U.S. Air Force where he introduced me to several different religions - Christian, Jewish, Buddhist.  As a teenager, I spent several summers learning to climb mountains from two of our Chaplains.  I played soccer and ran track in high school.

I have been associated with Unity for many years.  I joined Unity Atlanta where I served as the Facilities person and was on the Board as Vice President. I often led the Sunday services reading of The Daily Word and led and planned the World Day of Prayer, where we included participation of speakers from other faiths.
I moved to Cochiti Lake, NM in 2016 and joined Unity Santa Fe where I have assisted in cleaning out the office, the outside storage areas and have done work on the Facilities Team.  I was named Sacred Server of the Year in 2017 in recognition of my facilities contributions.  I would be honored to serve as your Congregational Representative to the Nominating Team.
