March's Prayer Column - "Planting Seeds with Prayer"πŸ™πŸ½

March offers many transformative opportunities. On the 5th, we celebrate Ash Wednesday, the beginning of LeAshes in Cross on Forehead nt in the Christian tradition, a period of preparation for Holy Week and Easter Sunday. The Jewish holiday Purim on the 14th commemorates the saving of the Jewish people from annihilation at the hands of Haman. Those of us who take pride in our Irish heritage celebrate St. Patrick’s Day on the 17th and welcome all others as honorary Irish. The Vernal Equinox on the 20th marks the turning point when daylight begins to win out over darkness. And on the 22nd, we celebrate our precious Mother planet on Earth Day.Β

I see each of these holidays as an occasion for prayer, but the period of Lent offers a unique opportunity to go deeper. This year, the Unity booklet for Lent is entitled β€œIn the Garden”. In the introduction, Rev. Doug Duerr writes β€œIn the garden of our souls, we are both the gardeners and the stewards of the sacred soil. We plant the seeds of our intentions, dreams, and aspirations with care, tilling the earth with our hopes and nurturing them with faith. As we work diligently, we watch our garden grow, each blossom a testament to our efforts and our divine connection.”

Our prayers are those seeds. We plant our seeds with faith in the knowledge that the Universe is always working for our greatest, highest good. And we affirm that in the fullness of time, our prayers bring forth a garden of beauty and abundance beyond our imagination. Namaste.
